Hi, I’m Candice.
Product designer with a foundation
in branding and marketing design.
A little bit about me
Design Background
I am a product designer with branding and marketing expertise. Making this transition was a deliberate decision because I am most interested in doing work with focused business goals that can directly impact people in making their experiences better. As a designer I do my best to keep an open mind and take an empathetic approach to identifying real problems. I am happiest when I can find the balance of working with others, pooling our strengths and working together, while also welcoming opportunities to take ownership of projects.
How I fell head over heals for Design (Story Time!)
I grew up with a love of art and drawing, but was discouraged in my youth to pursue art as a potential career. It wasn’t until my second year studying at the University of California, Davis, that I fell in love with Design completely by accident thanks to my close friend Rita.
Rita was interested in taking a Design 101 course, and knowing that I had an interest in art, she invited me to take the course together. Design 101 helped me realize that design was the perfect intersection of problem solving and visual art. I was immediately impressed by how omnipresent design was in our every day lives, and saw the potential to combine a longtime passion with an ever growing industry. I was hooked for life. Ironically, Rita learned that Design was not her calling and dropped the class and actually freed up space for me!
Not just a designer
I’m really passionate about food. Specifically eating it, cooking it, baking it, and writing about it. I’m really excited that I made the cut for east bay Yelp Elite and I’m pumped to represent for my city! Check out my Yelp profile. I also enjoy snowboarding, traveling, and watching tv.
What do my coworkers say about me?
“Candice is is very thoughtful about her design decisions, yet doesn’t get too attached to directions early. This flexibility is really important to a product designer's success.”
“Candice is is a great team player with a positive attitude.”
“She pushes herself without the need for someone else to. She is self-motivated to learn new things and try new techniques. This is such a fantastic trait.”
Note: These might seem made up (I totally get it.) Honestly, I took these quotes directly from my most recent performance review at Rocket Lawyer.
